This functional diver’s watch follows in the footsteps of the acclaimed Aquis Depth Gauge, which was widely regarded as one of the most innovative diving watches ever made when it was launched in 2013. It solved the problem of how to incorporate a depth gauge into a mechanical watch – without compromising Oris’s belief in producing sensibly priced ‘real watches for real people’.
Ce chronographe suit les traces de la Oris Aquis Depth Gauge, sortie en 2013 et qualifiée par la presse comme étant l’une des montres de plongée la plus novatrice du siècle. Un modèle révolutionnaire, créé et breveté Oris, qui a relevé le défi d’intégrer une jauge de profondeur dans une montre mécanique, tout en respectant la philosophie Oris : créer des “montres authentiques pour des êtres authentiques”.
That solution was a hole. Oris equipped the Aquis Depth Gauge with an inlet in the crystal at 12 o’clock, leading to a channel milled into the outside edge of the crystal covering the dial. As the diver descends, air inside the channel compresses, allowing water through the inlet and into the channel. This creates a watermark that corresponds to yellow depth gauge indications marked on the dial, giving the diver a clear reading of the depth.
The watch is water-resistant to 50 bar (500 metres).
The Aquis Depth Gauge Chronograph houses Oris’s automatic calibre 774, which powers a chronograph function and a date window at 6 o’clock.
Véritable prouesse technique, l’eau pénètre dans une cannelure moulée à l’intérieur de la glace saphir par une ouverture à 12h. Pendant la descente, l’air à l’intérieur de la cannelure est comprimé par la pression de l’eau environnante, permettant à celle-ci de pénétrer par l’ouverture. Le point de contact entre l’air et l’eau indique alors la profondeur sur la graduation jaune placée sur le pourtour du cadran, offrant une lecture optimale au plongeur.
Étanche à 500 mètres, la Oris Aquis Depth Gauge Chronograph renferme le calibre automatique 774 avec fonction chronographe et guichet dateur à 6 heures.
